Prediction: An Uncontested Win for Barack Obama

cs_charIndex="48">Now that the initial shock of the choices made for the vice presidents on both sides are solidified and behind us, or me rather; new developments in the campaigns have renewed my sense of hope that the democrats will surely win this election. Taking a closer look at Palin and the obvious attempts made by McCain to "cover up" for her lack of political clout and abilities to stand alone as a potential presidential alternate has significantly changed my mind about the Republican party's potential to defeat Obama without the support of Hillary Clinton. Despite the "at first glance" impressions that Palin might appeal to the fundamentalist right to such an extent to tilter the election in his favor, she has become instead an American effigy and a hindrance to his overall campaign rather than an asset. Go Obama!
John McCain's decision to bail out of the scheduled debate with Barack Obama in Oxford, Ms has proved to me - without a doubt - that he is ill prepared to lead this country. Why would a politician with all of McCain's experience "cow down" to such a critically important, first scheduled public debate with Barack Obama if not for indecisiveness on the issues to be debated, or a lack of preparation, or just flat out cowardice? A man who is renowned to be a war hero? Has he not read 'The Art of War' by Sun Tzu or what? The issues are certainly not new; he should have had a solid enough opinion to withstand an intelligent debate by then. Instead, tonite he will appear in the ring against Obama, apparently " better late then never".
Nevertheless, to be fair, here are some quick facts at a glance:
Obama:
Occidental College - Two years.
Columbia University - B.A. political science with a specialization in international relations.
Harvard - Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna Cum Laude
United States Senator from Illinois
Chairman of the Illinois Senate's Health and Human Services Committee
Chairman of the Senate's subcommittee on European Affairs
Senior United States Senator from Delaware
Current chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee
Former chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee
vs.
McCain:
United States Naval Academy - retired Naval captain 1981
Captured as a
prisoner of war by the North Vietnamese. He was held from 1967 to 1973
Former chairman of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee
Former chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee
Palin:
Hawaii Pacific University - 1 semester
North Idaho College - 2 semesters - general study
University of Idaho - 2 semesters - journalism
Matanuska-Susitna College - 1 semester
University of Idaho - 3 semesters - B.A. in journalism
Governer of Alaska
Chairperson, Alaska Gas and Oil Conservation Commission

Jennifer, I think McCain's initial decision to skip the debate nearly backfired on him. I'm sure that members of his own party and inner circle pressured him to get "back in the ring." Anyway, I'm glad the debate is back on. I've been looking forward to it.
It's interesting that you included the credentials of all four candidates. However, I don't put a lot of stock in credentials and pedigrees. I tend to go for the person who is the smartest and most capable, regardless of education and experience. I've seen too many educated and "experienced" people who had absolutely no common sense. Some couldn't event think their way out of a wet paper bag. I used to work with a lady who had a bachelor's degree but didn't know how to use a map to get from one place to the next. I honestly believe she thought California was somewhere in the Midwest -- or on the East Coast!

I agree with you Jenns McCain is plain nasty. He just seems to care only about winning the election and not what he will do if he gets in office. Are he and Palin going to Slam Putin as they have Obama? Silly question but I am a silly man.
