Women: Become The Queens of Your Castles and Save Your Sex Lives

I have 5 sisters, and all of them are married. Our phone calls are almost always com
prised of long cathartic reprieves, endless gripes over their unhappy existences as wives who juggle it all: the cooking, the cleaning, the car pooling to girl scouts meetings, or to baseball games, the bill paying, the thank you notes, the birthday cards, diaper changing, trips to the dry cleaners, etc.. My sisters are exhausted. Most of them work outside the home as well, and their rages peak to unnatural proportions, until I offer them a benzodiazepam or two, or three out of sympathy. Or perhaps I offer them for my own exhausted ear, knowing that it is only a temporary cork placed on their steaming bottles of complaints.

They talk, and their husbands talk, about the nonexistence of their sex lives; and quite frankly, I can understand why they no longer have sex. These wives have become glorified housemaids and mothers to their spoiled husbands. Can you blame them for not having the desire for sex at the end of their days work of taking care of the household, and attending to the endless lists of errands to be run? To be fair, I must give credit to those men who work long hours at the office as well; those who are doctors or lawyers or business owners who provide the bulk of the income to support not only their families survival; but also their ladies overflowing wardrobes, tennis lessons, trips to the day spas, and their memberships to the 'women who lunch' at the country club. No. I'm not talking about those people. I'm talking about your average Joes and Janes, and not to all of the others who already have house cleaners and nannies.

But average Janes have much to learn from the glamorous lifestyles of these 'spoiled' wives. They truly are the queens of their castles. My advice, ( to avoid the dependency on prescription pills) is to hire house cleaners. And don't tell me you can't afford them, for it is my opinion, that you can not, not afford them. Do whatever you can to budget them in! The relief of household chores is tremendously beneficial not only to you, but to your marriage, as well. And I have my money on your improved sex lives. Tell this to your husband, and believe you me, he will miraculously come up with a new budget for you.

Dear readers, please do not misconstrue my references to benzodiazepams as literally true events. This article was written in jest, and please note further down that I have included in parentheses ( not to be dependent on prescription pills). So, please just have a laugh. That is my only intention. Other than the fact, that many women do indeed 'juggle it all'.

hi jennifer, i was your 6th sister, until the years rolled by and now my 17, 20, and 22 year olds can dress themselves, feed themselves, and get themselves out of trouble. thter is nothng harder in this life than to be a full time mother, even harder when one works as well. i delivered and sorted mail for 7 years, workied in a bank, a dentist office, shop-rite, and restaurants, and i could work all those jobs in a day and not be as exhausted as taking care of 4 kids all day, and the running around, and birthdays, holidays, new wardrobes with the changing season, etc. well written article, and having cleaned houses for a time, i can attest to the great idea of hiring a housekeeper. nothing like coming home to a clean house that you didn't have to clean. best regards, sue thom

That is one of THE most sensible suggestions I've ever 'seen'! And I couldn't agree more. Women who ALLOW this lifestyle (overworked, under-paid and under-appreciated, not to mention under-sexed) need to heed your insight. I'd venture that there'd be a whole lot fewer crabbie people on the planet, men and women alike!
